Your information
Privacy Policy
Last updated October 21, 2026
This policy explains how Neighbourhood Sale at neighbourhoodsale.com handles information when you browse sales, create an account, post a sale, or communicate with another member. Contact us at info@miriri.org with privacy questions or requests.
Account information and Google sign-in
We store the name, email address, username, and sign-in information needed to maintain your account. Password accounts use a one-way password hash. Sign-in sessions also record information such as your IP address, browser, and session dates to operate and protect the service.
If you choose Google sign-in, Google shares your Google account identifier, email address and verification status, and basic profile information such as your name and profile picture. We use and store this information to identify you, create or connect your account, and let you sign in. We also store protected Google authorization tokens for the sign-in connection. We do not receive your Google password or request access to your Gmail, Drive files, or contacts.
Your Google account data is used for these account features, not sold, used for advertising, or used to train general-purpose AI models. Our handling of Google account data follows the Google API Services User Data Policy.
Routes, item alerts and community sales
Routes are stored in your browser without an account and synced to your account when signed in. Route planning sends the chosen starting coordinates and public sale locations to OSRM for road travel estimates. Item alerts use a separate double opt-in and your chosen email, keywords, location and radius. You can manage or unsubscribe from the link in each alert. We send at most one item alert email per day. Community household addresses and item lists are public, including on the shared community page and normal searches.
Sale listings, photos, and reviews
Published sale descriptions, photos, street addresses, map locations, dates, hours, and the seller name are public. Reviews and the reviewer's display name are also public. Only include information and photos you intend other people to see. Anyone may view or share a public sale without creating an account.
Draft listings and photos that have not been published are restricted to their owner in the website. Expired sales no longer appear in searches, but expiry does not delete a listing or prevent someone from opening its direct link.
Sale drafts on your device
You can prepare a sale and choose photos before creating an account. When you continue to sign-in, we save those details and photos in this browser so you can return to your draft. Selected photos upload when you publish after signing in. The browser draft is removed after successful publication or when it becomes an account draft awaiting checkout. Clearing this website’s browser data removes unfinished local drafts.
Saved sales and conversations
We store saved-sale selections and messages to provide favorites and conversations. Your saved-sale list is shown to your account. Messages are shown to the buyer and seller participating in that conversation. They are stored by the service and may need to be accessed to provide support, address abuse, or meet legal requirements.
Optional weekend emails
You can browse without an account or email subscription. If you choose weekend emails, we store your email address, selected city or postal-code location and coordinates, notification radius, confirmation and consent dates, and delivery records. We use these details to send one Thursday roundup of nearby Friday–Sunday sales when matching listings are available.
We send a confirmation link before activating or reactivating a subscription. Resend processes email addresses and messages to deliver confirmation emails and roundups. Every roundup includes a link to change your location or radius and unsubscribe without signing in. Unsubscribing stops future roundups; we retain the subscription status and delivery history to honour that choice and prevent duplicate sends. Request deletion at info@miriri.org. We also temporarily store a hashed network identifier to limit signup abuse.
Maps, payments, and service providers
We remember the city or ZIP location you select in this browser so your next visit starts nearby. Clear the location filter to remove that saved search. If you have no saved search, we use approximate city-level location supplied by our hosting network when available. Otherwise, we ask for your browser’s location permission and round the coordinates to an area before searching. You can decline and enter a city or ZIP code instead. We do not save this approximate location to your account.
When you choose “Use my location,” with your browser’s permission, we use your device location to find nearby sales and show the closest ones first. Coordinates are sent to our website for the search; we do not save them to your account or publish them. You can decline location access, clear the location filter, or enter a city or postal code instead.
Location searches send the city, ZIP code, or address you enter to Photon/Komoot and, for some U.S. property addresses, the U.S. Census geocoding service. OpenStreetMap supplies map tiles and receives the network information needed to load them. Choosing directions opens Google Maps with the sale address. Choosing a sharing service opens that service with the sale information you select.
When a posting fee applies, Stripe processes checkout. We store payment status and transaction references to publish the paid listing; Stripe handles payment-card details.
Our hosting and infrastructure providers, including OpenAI Sites and Cloudflare, process and store information needed to operate the website. Google processes Google sign-in. These services have their own privacy policies. We use service providers to deliver the features you request and protect the website.
Cookies and security
The website uses cookies and session information to keep you signed in and protect account actions. You can manage cookies in your browser or sign out from your account. Blocking essential cookies can prevent account features from working. We use encrypted website connections, restricted account access, and protected credentials to help safeguard information.
Your choices and data retention
You can browse without an account, edit or delete your own sales from My sales, remove saved sales, and sign out. Removing a public listing does not necessarily remove all related account, uploaded-photo, review, or payment records. Data remains stored while needed to provide the service and maintain account and transaction records; passing a sale's end date does not automatically erase it.
To request access, correction, or deletion of account information, messages, or uploaded photos, email info@miriri.org. We may need to verify that the request comes from the account owner. Some records may need to be retained for security, dispute resolution, or applicable legal obligations.
You can also remove Neighbourhood Sale's Google access from your Google Account connections. Removing Google's access is separate from deleting your Neighbourhood Sale account or existing posts.
Updates
We will update this page if the website's data practices change. If a change requires new Google permissions or a new use of Google account data, we will request the relevant consent before using it that way.
